The incident is said to have happened in Anakaputhur on Saturday when the victim, J Jayanthi, was walking back home after withdrawing Rs 10,000 from an ATM near her house. A three-member gang who followed her on a bike snatched her wallet containing the cash and fled the spot. The video shows the victim running behind the bike, but in vain. Based on her complaint, Sankar Nagar police registered a case and have launched a hunt for the suspects with the help of CCTV footage.
Meanwhile, Otteri police have arrested six men who were behind a series of robberies in their jurisdiction and three bikes were seized from them. The accused, identified as R Sathyamurthy (19), B Surya (22), M Sarankumar (32) of Vyasarpadi attacked a two-wheeler rider and escaped with his vehicle on Saturday. They were secured within hours.
Similarly, J Santhoshkumar (20), V Dhiren (19) and M Santhoshkumar (20) of Otteri were arrested in connection with a snatching case reported in July. All six were remanded in judicial custody.
